The Heritage District Glow-Up: What’s New in Downtown Gilbert

by Shawna Reeves

Downtown Gilbert’s Heritage District is experiencing a dynamic transformation, with several exciting developments on the horizon that promise to enrich the community’s cultural and social landscape. Here’s a glimpse into what’s unfolding:

Heritage Park: A New Cultural Hub

A significant addition to the Heritage District is the forthcoming Heritage Park, a 10-acre mixed-use development located at the southwest corner of Gilbert Road and Juniper Avenue. This project aims to serve as a central gathering place, blending modern amenities with the area’s historic charm. Phase one of Heritage Park will feature approximately 47,000 square feet of retail and restaurant spaces, a 288-unit multifamily community, over 300 surface parking spaces, and a 17,500-square-foot public square adorned with water features, lush landscaping, public art, and walking and biking paths. Future phases are set to include a 125-room hotel, office spaces, and additional parking, further enhancing the district’s appeal. Construction is slated to begin in early 2025.

Culinary Delights on the Horizon

The renowned Flagship Restaurant Group is set to introduce three of its acclaimed concepts to Heritage Park, occupying approximately 14,000 square feet within the development. While specific details about the concepts have yet to be disclosed, Flagship’s portfolio includes popular establishments such as Châm Pang Lanes, Ghost Donkey, Pyro, Palma, and Anthem. This expansion is anticipated to elevate the dining and social experiences in the East Valley, offering residents and visitors new culinary adventures.
